The FrankoCAMP 2023 ambassador program for high school students has been launched at Lviv University
Do you want to become an ambassador of Lviv University? ” – this is exactly the question that started our promotional campaign when we opened registration for the first FrankoCAMP at Lviv University. And there were a lot of people willing to participate in the two-day camp - 62 participants who became ambassadors of LNU. I. Franko in his schools. The purpose of the event was to acquaint active high school students with the life of Lviv University in order to further implement joint projects with the student youth of Ukraine.
From the first minutes of their stay at the University, students had the opportunity to fully feel as students: to the sounds of the National Anthem of Ukraine and Gaudeamus, their first-ever solemn ceremony in the walls of the Franko University began. The participants were greeted by the first vice-rector of the university Andrii Hukalyuk: " Today I stand before you with pride and great hope. You are gifted and talented young people who can change the world. You are the future ambassadors of our University and representatives of the ideas and values that we have nurtured in our educational institution over the years. Remember that leadership is not about power, but about service. Be prepared to help others and share in your schools what you will hear here. I am sure that you will succeed in everything ." Next, Andriy Fedorovych handed each of the future ambassadors their first scorebook - a symbolic document in which the children received "scores" after the first and second days of the camp.
After the festivities, the real training began. Each of the participants got into one of the five groups of our 19 faculties and the Pedagogical College, where he had the opportunity to learn about the peculiarities of one or another direction: humanitarian, natural, technical, social or economic and legal. Each of the divisions had 30 minutes for their presentation: there were presentations, quizzes, excursions, workshops and, of course, gifts. The most active participants received symbolic presents for their efforts.
No camping is complete without a tasty snack, so on this day, the university Open Space turned into a very bustling place, where each of the participants could taste pizza from our partners Pronto Pizza, cookies from Biscotti, water from TM "Morshinska" and hot tea, which rainy weather was very appropriate.
Fortunately, the weather improved, so the students, along with their mentors and volunteers, went to the Science Library and Botanical Garden, where they spent the next 4 hours exploring the 5-story book storage and huge greenhouses with tropical plants.
The second day of the camp was no less intense: during it, the students got to know the Students' Union, the Student Government, the Science Park "Innovations and Entrepreneurship", the Scientific Society of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists, and the Center for Culture and Leisure. Then the schoolchildren visited a special place - the Institute of French Studies, where they had the opportunity to discover the secrets of Ivan Franko's life and creative path. Also, the highlight of the day was a visit to the University Museum - a special place that preserves all the most interesting things about our Alma Mater.
After a rich afternoon program, the children, like real students, rested and had lunch in the park named after I. Franko. During the picnic, students exchanged impressions, shared experiences and took memorable photos against the background of the magnificent main building of Lviv University.
Afternoon activities for the future ambassadors were organized by the biological, chemical, geological, geographical, and physical faculties, as well as the electronics and computer technology faculty, the culture and arts faculty, and the journalism faculty.
Full of impressions and emotions, the participants returned to the main building for the official closing ceremony of the camp, during which they received certificates of "Honorary Ambassador of Lviv University". The graduates of the first FrankoCAMP were congratulated by the head of the Marketing and Development Center Olga Osredchuk.
Anastasiya Pavlenko, a third-year student of the Faculty of Geology, and a specialist in the Department of marketing and communication, concluded the ceremony with inspiring words: " I was born near the Dnipro, but I always dreamed of studying in Lviv. Once, during a tour of the city of Lviv, I got to the main building of the Lviv University and realized that I must enter there. In my personal archive, there is even a video where I stand on these stairs and say: “I will come back here! ". And so it happened, in a few years I became a student at this University. So believe me, you will also return here as real students if you really want to. We believe in you!"
The Marketing and Development Center would like to express its gratitude to the University administration, all departments that participated in the organization of the event, faculties and the Pedagogical College, sponsors (“Pronto Pizza”, “Biscotti”, “Morshinska”, “Frankostore”), volunteers, mentors and, most importantly, to FrankoCAMP participants.
We are convinced that thanks to this event, the students broadened their understanding of the University, as well as learned a lot about educational programs and will be able to share this information among their peers at their educational institutions. But the mission of the ambassadors does not end there, because we plan to continue to cooperate with them in various career guidance projects.
