On the occasion of the closing of the exhibition "Warriors of Light" by Max Vityk, an evening of sung poetry was held at Lviv University with the band "Pyrih and Whip"

On University Day, October 11, in the main building, the Marketing and Development Center organized the opening of an exhibition of paintings by a graduate of the Faculty of Geology, artist Max Vityk. A month has passed since that time, and the Warriors of Light continue their important work - collecting donations for teachers, students and graduates of LNU. I. Franko, who today protects the borders of our state from the Moscow enemy. On November 14, the walls of the hall were once again lit up with bright lanterns to mark the official closing of the exhibition, and all those present had the opportunity not only to chat with the author and listen to selected music from the band "Pyrih i Whip", but also to donate #для_франкотикув_на_фронті.

"I am actually very pleased that the "Warriors of Light" stayed within the walls of my Alma Mater for a month. And it is doubly nicer that together we managed to raise funds to help the Armed Forces. Today I decided to introduce you to a band whose work appeals to me very much. This is not just music, but sung poetry of Ukrainian classics. I am sure that "Pyrih and Whip" will appeal to you as well because today it is important for us to preserve and popularize our culture and literature," noted the author of the paintings, artist Max Vityk.

On behalf of the academic community of Lviv University, the vice-rector for scientific-pedagogical work and informatization Vitaly Kuharskyi thanked the artist and our graduate Max Vityk: "We are grateful that Lviv University became the place where the Warriors of Light stayed for so long. When we go to work or study, we are already used to being met in the hall by, intelligent, adult-like creations on canvases with deep meanings and colours. But the most important thing is that today art has also become one of the most effective tools for collecting aid for our servicemen. Thanks to this initiative, as well as the "Meet a Graduate" project, there are already about 270,000 in the bank today, which we will direct to the needs of our teachers, students and graduates of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Therefore, we wish that the Warriors of Light continue their important mission, because only with the joint efforts of all Ukrainians will we be able to win."

And then everyone present had the opportunity to enjoy the insightful performance of the band "Pyrih i Whip", whose repertoire included songs based on the poetry of Vasyl Stus, Pavel Tychyna, Hryhoriy Chuprynka, Bohdan-Ihor Antonych and other famous poets whose fate was not easy during the Soviet occupation of Ukraine.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the organization of the event, in particular the coordinator of the exhibition, the head of the exhibition department of the Lviv National Gallery of Art, Mr. Andriy Rybka, the host of the event Ivan Chankov, the photographer Oleksiy Syrotkin, the "Fiorelli" brand, the university units: the Museum of History of the University and its director Yuriy Gudyma, Publishing House of the Lviv University,  the Center for Network Technologies and IT Support, the Faculty of Culture and Arts, and the student dining hall.

We sincerely believe that each of the visitors of the evening received pleasant and bright impressions, as well as fell in love for the first time or for the second time with Ukrainian visual musical and poetic art from talented Ukrainian artists.

We would also like to remind you that the series "Warriors of Light" is a collection consisting of 12 canvases. The paintings are dedicated to the Revolution of Dignity of 2014 and depict childishly sincere fantasy heroes who represent the guardians of our peace and light, combining symbolic folklore and religious features. In the "Warriors of Light" series, the artist "modernizes" the archetypal mystical material in order to transfer modern events to the plane of the eternal struggle between good and evil. Over the past twenty years, Max Vityk has had many exhibitions that have attracted the attention of an international audience: most recently, the series of paintings were at the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York, the ArtMarts gallery in Cairo, the International Museum of Art in McAllen (Texas), and the National Museum of Kyiv Art Gallery. The artist's personal exhibitions were also presented at the Scope Art fairs in Basel, Context Art in New York and Miami, as well as at Art Kyiv in Ukraine.
