Lviv University with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Lviv City Council launched a traditional 2-week school for studying artificial intelligence technologies - AIT 2023

Summer is always an opportunity for self-development, so it is very important to provide Ukrainian youth with a quality platform for learning new things and improving previously acquired skills. Such a strong foundation for acquiring knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence technologies is the Artificial Intelligence Summer School 2023, which is traditionally held at the end of June by Lviv University for students and school students interested in the field of IT and artificial intelligence technologies, in particular such popular areas as machine learning, Python basics, deep learning, mobile development for iOS, Android, GPT chat and more.

It is important that this year the School received maximum support from the state and business, because the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Lviv Regional Military Administration and 20 companies, including official partners (N-iX, GlobalLogic, Eleks) joined the implementation of this project, SQUAD, NeuroForge, groupXS, Brainstack_, Infopulse, MindCraft.ai, EPAM), participants (Boosta, Intellias, Kindgeek, Sigma Software, Indeema, SoftServe, Leopolis Group) and information partners ( Marketer.ua, ApiX-Drive, Lviv IT cluster).

Training at AIT 2023 started today, June 26, in an online format. The Rector of Lviv University, Professor Volodymyr Melnyk, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization Dmytro Zavhorodniy, Director of Industry Affairs of N-iX Svyatoslav Kavetskyi, Vice President of Engineering of Global Logic Ihor Kostiv joined the ceremonial opening of the School, head of ERAM University in Ukraine Denys Hrynyov, regional manager of Infopulse company Ivan Korzhov, CEO of Brainstack company Volodymyr Sytnikov, co-founder of NeuroForge company Martin Brown, CEO of groupXS company Tobias Hertkorn, head of the educational direction of the Lviv IT Cluster Yuliya Tsymbala and vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work and informatization LNU named after I. Franka Vitaly Kuharskyi.

In his welcoming speech to all participants, partners and organizers, the Rector of Lviv University, Professor Volodymyr Melnyk, noted: "I am convinced that the opening of this school is a large-scale event, as it gathered around itself more than 600 participants not only from Lviv and the Lviv region, but also from all over Ukraine and even the EU. It is very pleasant when these young people are looking for additional knowledge, in particular in areas related to information flows and artificial intelligence, which are very progressive today in our fight against the Russian aggressor. Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Lviv IT cluster, as well as all the companies that joined this project. We are all aware that this event is possible only because the Armed Forces of Ukraine create circumstances where every day we optimistically expect more and more victories at the front. I am sure that the school is destined for success, because it was preceded by fundamental training, as well as great interest on the part of students and apprentices. And these are exactly the two factors that give reason to optimistically assess the prospects of AIT 2023".

The Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for IT Development Oleksandr Bornyakov also gave words of support to our participants: "We live in times when artificial intelligence is used in medicine, education and many other fields. I am convinced that this will affect the world economy, politics and society in general, because we are already witnessing how it helps our army on the front. Your generation has a unique opportunity to change the world and our country for the better, and AIT 2023 at Lviv University is a great chance to reveal your potential in this field. I wish you success on this path, may your studies be fun and pleasant."

As part of the two-week educational process, the participants, including students of IT specialities and high school students interested in information technologies, in particular artificial intelligence, will have the opportunity to attend lectures and practical classes. It is this combination that makes it possible to offer young people a large amount of new and interesting material along with practical attempts, as well as the development of soft skills, which today almost all employer companies pay attention to.

Especially for high school students, the program includes introductory lectures with the educational programs of the Lviv University of the faculties: electronics and computer technologies, mechanics and mathematics, applied mathematics and informatics, and physics. For schoolchildren, such classes are a great opportunity to get acquainted with various IT areas and decide where to enter in the future.

A special feature of AIT is that during the entire schooling, participants and speakers will communicate exclusively in English, which will allow young people to improve their communication skills in this language as well.

The training will take place in a distance format using the Moodle platform, and will last until July 7. During this season, 50 classes are waiting for the young people of Aitiv, upon completion of which they will receive certificates of acquisition of relevant knowledge and skills.

AIT-2023 started successfully, so we sincerely believe that the two weeks of training will be a big step towards their IT career for all those registered, and companies will inspire more than one participant to come to their offices for an interview.
